Obituary

Barbara passed peacefully at age 97 the evening of June 22nd , at home, after a gradual decline in health.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Barbara born July 1, 1925 in Pittsfield, Ma. Is the daughter of the late Harold and Miriam( Bucke) Conklin.

Barbara is survived by two daughters; Jeanne B. Weller of Canaan, NY and Judyth Huls-Kuder of Hutchinson Island, FL., son-in-law  David Weller of Canaan, N.Y.

Seven grand children: Elise Weller, Canaan, N.Y.  Marcey Bemiss and husband Jim of Canaan, NY.  Richard Huls and wife Solange of Winter Haven, FL.  Ramsey Huls of Austin, Tx.  Peter Deinna and Jason Deinna of Las Vegas, NV., Frederick (Fritz) Harlfinger, IV of East Nassau, NY.

Eight great grandchildren: Staff Sgt Joshua Weller and wife Katy of Watertown, NY.  Nathan Bassett and wife Millenium of Gadsden, TN.  Caleb, Tobias and Timothy Jeralds of Canaan, NY.  Dania and Kyle Huls of Winter Haven, FL.  Victoria Bemiss of Stuyvesant, NY.

Five great-great grandchildren: Lara Mae, Bruce, Aurora, Valentine Barbara and Theodore.

She was predeceased in death by her long time companion John C. Haworth, daughter Kathryn Harlfinger, great great grandchild Oliver Kip Bassett, and sisters Patricia Odom and Ruth Chandler.

Barbara was a voracious reader, often found with 2-3 books at the same time as well as an avid crossword puzzler.  Family was the most important thing to Barbara, always putting their needs first, a wonderful cook and baker she enjoyed entertaining for both friends and family.  She was always welcoming friends into her inner circle of "family" members. She was frequently found to be the loudest cheerer at her great grandsons sporting events.

Known to many as "Grandma B" she had a beautiful smile and will always be a remembered for her love and graciousness.

Barbara worked for many years at The Queechy Lake Inn, Queechy Lake Motel and Stonykill, working side by side with long term friends and owners Mickey and Al Tinger.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, 2 – 4 pm  at  the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham, NY 12037 with interment immediately following at the Cemetery of the Maples East Chatham, N.Y.
