Obituary

Betty F. (Wishon) Stone 90 who was born and lived her entire life in the same home in Ghent, N.Y. died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center with her dear friends at her side. Mrs. Stone born July 29, 1926 is the daughter of the late George H. and Gladys (Payne) Wishon. She graduated from Chatham High School Class of 1944 and worked as a toll collector for the N.Y.S. Thruway for 15 years retiring in 1984. Betty was well known for her exceptional knitting skills having knitted many comfort items for the  Seamen's Church Institute and Castle Point V.A. Hospital  in Castle Point,N.Y.  as well for her Church. She is a life member of the former Christ Lutheran Church of Ghent and member of the Christ Our Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Chatham having served 12 years as financial secretary. Betty was also a 50 year member of the O.E.S. Charity Chapter #47 Chatham, Mt. Merino and the Henry Hudson Chapter. She was an over  50 year member and oldest member of the Amaranth #100 having served as Matron in '52, '60' and 1968. She also was District Deputy Grand Royal Matron from 1962 -1963. She is survived by Nieces and Nephews and by the "Kids" Nicholas and Kristin Wenk-Fallon. She was predeceased by her husband Louis, Son Frank and Daughter-In-Law Sylvia. Funeral Service will be held Monday August 29, 11am from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham.  Calling Hours will be Sunday evening 5-7pm. Interment will be in the Ghent Union Cemetery.
