Carol D. Bartel 68 of Ghent died Wednesday at Community Hospice at C.M.H. following a lengthy Illness. Mrs. Bartel born February 4,1942 in Wayland, N.Y. is the daughter of the late David and Jennie (Cole) McDowell. She graduated from Wayland Central School and attended Michigan State University. She came to Ghent in 1964 where she was employed with A.D.M. in Hudson as lab technician for 10 years and then she was employed with WHUC Radio Station in Hudson as office manager for several years. Mrs. Bartel was a member of the Christ Our Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Chatham, Assistant Financial Director for Thrivent Financial For Lutherans and member of the D.A.R. Hendrick Hudson Chapter. She enjoyed woodworking, cake decorating, genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 37 years Henry C.Bartel Jr. of Ghent, Daughters Wendy and husband Michael Kerner of Ghent, Susan Poole of Lakeland, Fl., Lynda and husband Joseph Sardo of Ghent, Son Scott Krebs and wife Patricia of Swan Lake, N.Y. Brothers Dewitt McDowell of Dansville, N.Y., Walter McDowell of Homer, Alaska, Sisters Lily Crane of Wayland, N.Y. Donna Fairbrother of Atlanta, N.Y. Grandchildren Joshua Hutchinson, Sarah Hutchinson, Richard Sardo, Jackson Krebs, Emily Poole, Jayco Krebs, Valerie Kerner, Victoria Poole, Cassandra Kerner, Jarek Krebs and Jase Krebs. Survived also by 2 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by Brothers David, William Richard and Clayton and Sisters Mary and Bonnie. Calling hours will Saturday evening 4- 7 pm from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Graveside Service will be held Sunday 1pm from the Ghent Union Cemetery County Rt. 9 Ghent, N.Y. there are no funeral services.
