Obituary

Christine Shoemaker Callander, age 66, wife of Fredrick Callander of Ghent, NY, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018, with her family and friends by her side at St. Peter's Hospice, in Albany, NY.

Christine is survived by her loving husband, Fred, her devoted dog, Ciacci, and her brothers Robert, Peter and Rick Shoemaker, Dean Mitchell and is predeceased by her mother, Sherry Drury.  She is survived by the bonds she had created with so many special friends beyond her family and from all around the world.

Christine began her modeling career as a high fashion print model for Benson & Hedges national ads including billboards coast to coast.  She became a fulltime fit model for over 20 years working with top fashion designers in NYC.  More recently, Christine pursued her real estate license and worked for Gable Real Estate with multi-listings and sales in Columbia County.

Prior to her retirement from the fashion industry, she became involved in many local charities and fund raisers most notably she spent significant time with the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, her local chapter of Planned Parenthood in Hudson, NY advocating for women's choice, and she became personally involved in Perfect 10 – a Hudson based non-profit supporting and providing guidance to female youth in Hudson, NY.
