Beloved Father (Clarence) Holmes Hutchinson, 88, died Tuesday at Columbia Memorial Hospital Hudson, NY after 6 months of failing health. Holmes born February 7, 1927 in Albany,N.Y. is the son of the late Clarence and Sada (Brown) Hutchinson. He graduated from Chatham High School and served the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947. Holmes resided at his home at Merwin Road, Chatham, for 59 years where he shared his life with his wife the late (Evelyn) Greta Merwin Hutchinson and their 3 children, Robert Hutchinson of Voorheesville, Rickki (Hope) Titus of Fort Edward and Harold Hutchinson of Valatie Plus his cat and best buddy, Archie,and long time loving friend, Evelyn Carter of Valatie. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Amanda Race of Philmont and Courtney Hutchinson of Niverville and two great grandchildren, Over the years he was employed by French Funeral Home as Asst. to the Director, Madsen Overhead Doors as an installer and for Sterling Drug as an asset inventory clerk. He also worked at the Firemen's Home and helped out at his family owned Hutchinson Insurance Agency in Chatham. He also drove school bus for many years. He was a 4 H Leader and member of Kinderhook Elks as well as a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church of Chatham and a 50 year member of the Chatham Fire Department. He was a family oriented man who loved gardening, outdoor activities and camping and spent his days of late watching the deer and many birds he fed from his dining room table, which looked out over his expansive lawn and property. He is and will always be sorely missed although now is at peace knowing he is and always will be loved very deeply Besides his wife , he was predeceased by a brother Harold E. Hutchinson. He is survived also by his brother-in-law Paul Merwin and his wife Jane of Valatie and sister-in-laws Nancy Wahlbon of Astoria, Oregon and Betty (Elizabeth) Allen of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He had many nieces and nephews as well. Calling hours are Saturday 10 -12 with a funeral service to follow at 12. noon from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham.
