Daniel G. Hayes, 81, of Mellenville, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 20th, 2015, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.

He was born March 7th, 1934 in Hudson to the late Leo and Gertrude (Lape) Hayes.

He graduated from Hudson High School and was employed for most of his career at V&O Press and Truxton Machinery in Greenport. He was a 2nd lieutentant aircraft electrician for the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He was a life member of the Hudson Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, and traveling on his motorcycle.

Hayes is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Darcy and Joseph Krein of Philmont, and his son, Peter Hayes of Mellenville. He has four grandchildren: Kelsie and Aaron Krein of Philmont, and Emily and Alexander Hayes of Mellenville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Regina Kraft, twin brothers Leo and Leonard Hayes, his brother Frederick ("Sandy") Hayes, and his sister, Jeannine Nooney.

Calling hour will be Saturday, December 26th   10 to 11 A.M. from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham and the services will follow at 11:00am with the Reverend, Dan Herrick officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mellenville Union Cemetery
