Doris S. Myers, resident of Whittier Nursing Home in Ghent, NY, passed away June 23, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital surrounded by her entire family. Born March 31, 1927 in Hudson NY, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Julia (Trowbridge) Seymour. She graduated from Ilion High School and Utica School of Commerce. Doris was employed as a telephone operator for New York Telephone in Utica and then for Columbia-Rensselaer Telephone in Chatham. She retired from Crellins/Sonoco in Chatham after 25 years of service as a quality control inspector. She was a past member and officer of the East Chatham Ladies Auxillary and more recently a member of the Ghent VFW Ladies Auxillary and the Philmont Rotary Club. She spent her life devoted to caring and spending time with her family. Doris was the beloved and cherished mother of Michele (Bill) Mickle of Chatham, Mark (Peggy) Myers of Ghent and Scott (Roxie) Myers also of Ghent. She was the grandmother of Jason (Rachel) Shatney, Natalie, Jocelyn, Mark Jr., Emily and Corbett Myers, great-grandmother of Kevin and Kaiden Krein and Talan Kring, and step-grandmother of Michael, David, Robert Mickle and Ashley Johnson and Samantha Zucco. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Clifford Myers and grandson Colin Myers and great-grandson Jordan Krein. Private services will be held for family and friends in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the East Chatham Fire Department.
