Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Kraft died on Aug. 2nd at the Pine Haven Nursing Home where she resided.  She was born on Oct. 12th, 1922, the daughter of Vernon Tipple and Edna Moore Tipple and predeceased by her husband George and brothers, Clyde and Elliot Tipple.

She is survived by her brother Lloyd Tipple of Philmont; nephews David, Bruce, and Matthew and James Tipple; nieces Alison Tipple, Cynthia Teator, and Lisa Coons, and their spouses.  She had several grandnephews, grandnieces, and great grandnieces.

She graduated from Philmont High School as Valedictorian, Russell Sage and Middlebury College where she majored in French and Spanish.  She was a language teacher for 30 years in various schools before retiring from Chatham Central.  She was a member of the Reformed Church of Chatham and held offices in various civic organizations including the Chatham Women's Club, Alpha Nu chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Grange, and the NY State Teachers Association. Dorothy served as a volunteer at the Chatham Public Library and MacHayden Theatre.  She enjoyed needlework, travel, photography and bridge.

A graveside service were held at the family plot at the West Ghent cemetery at 11a.m. on Aug. 5th, with the Rev. David Tipple officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Chatham Public Library, Chatham, NY or the Pine Haven Sunshine Fund, P.O. Box 785, Philmont, NY.  The family wishes to thank the Pine Haven staff for all their attentive care.
