Edward G. Bemiss Sr. (Napa), 76, of Chatham, New York, passed away on July 10, 2022.  He was born August 19, 1945 to Lewis A. Bemiss and Gladys V. ( Lamoree) Bemiss.    Ed graduated from Chatham High School in 1963 and served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1970.

He worked as a supervisor at Red Star Express for 29 years and later at FedEx for 6 years before retiring.  In his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.  Ed was also known for his love of baseball.  He had the pleasure of coaching most of Chatham youth, as well as his two sons.

He leaves behind his son Michael Bemiss (Erica) of New Jersey, his son Edward Bemiss Jr. (Amy) of Chatham, three grandchildren, Julian, Michael and Christopher, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his wife of 30 years Donna, his brother Lewis and his sister Marge.

Calling hours will be held from 10am-12pm Thursday, July 14,  at Wenk Funeral Home Chatham, followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm.  Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Chatham Public Library, 11 Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham, NY 12037.
