Elaine Louise Craft passed away peacefully on April 21st with her family by her side. Elaine was born on February 9th 1929 to (Alle) Detmer and Hilda Schroeder. She graduated with honors from Julia Richman High School in 1947 where she starred as a swimmer. Elaine is survived by her best friend and companion Dakota and children Tim Legget (Marcia) of Ghent, John (Joanne) Craft of Ghent, Cherylee Craft of Ghent, Amanda Craft (Bill Gleason) of Old Chatham, Amy Cornelius (Bob) of Valatie, Bill Craft (Helene) of Hudson. Also, Elaine's close friends Linda Antolick, Tom Pottenburgh, and Marilyn Morgan. Elaine was blessed with ten grandchildren, Kevin and Gregg Legget, Ashley Allsop, Brittany and Grace Cornelius, Chet Blass, Miranda Trowbridge and Jena Lincoln, Audrey and Steven Craft and nine great grandchildren Karissa, Brennen, Chester Ryan, Ellie, Skylar, Daisy, Ashton, Madyson, and Bayley Elaine. Elaine (Blondie, Lady Pace) was predeceased by her husband Bill Craft. Elaine was employed with the Training School for Girls for many years until its closing then continued her career at Brookwood Center where she ultimately retired. Elaine loved horses. She was the rodeo queen at the Painted Pony Ranch when she was eighteen years old. She also was a founding member of the Circle Saddle Club of Columbia County. Elaine enjoyed harness horse racing as well; she owned many harness horses (Brindle Lass) with her husband Bill and raced them throughout the New England Race Tracks. Elaine also served as the Clerk of the Course for the Harness Racing at the Columbia County and Dutchess County Fairs and was a member of the Empire Driving Club. After her retirement Elaine enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and was an avid reader. Following the wishes of our mom there will not be any calling hours.
