ELEANOR M. ROY, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2024, in Powells Point, NC.  She was born on August 6, 1936, to Mark and Roseanne Howder of Albany, NY, and was one of seven children. She was a graduate of Albany High School.  She worked in her father's restaurant, Farnham's, in Albany until she met the love of her life and husband for 50+ years, Bernard J. Roy.

Eleanor was a long-standing member of St. James Catholic Church in Chatham, NY, where she served most of her life.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister, a CCD teacher and a member of the church choir.  She was also an Apostle of the Sisters of the Resurrection, Castleton, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Roy, but is survived by her children; Jean (Don) Barnes of Crestview, FL, Lynn (Walter) Doughty of West Babylon, NY, Michael Roy of Virginia Beach, VA, and Lisa (David) Ward of Powells Point, NC, three grandchildren; Christopher Barnes, Walter (Aneta) Doughty, and Heather (Michael) Rives, and five great grandsons, Cameron, Zayne, Grayson, Jonathan, and Gabriel Barnes.  Also left to cherish her memory are many relatives and numerous friends.

A funeral mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Chatham, NY, on September 7, 2024, at 1 p.m., followed by interment at St. James Cemetery, in Ghent, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather after the burial to celebrate Eleanor's life. For those who wish memorials may be made to
