Elisabeth Ann (Bennett) McEwan 91 a long time resident of Canaan, N.Y. died Friday at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Cortland, N.Y. surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McEwan born November 25,1921 in Kingston,N.Y. is the daughter of the late Clifford F. and Elisabeth (Heaney) Bennett. She was a graduate of New Paltz College. Betti taught school in several states and mainly at New Lebanon Central School in New Lebanon, N.Y. where she retired from in 1986. She also served on the Chatham Central School Board, Canaan Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon. Betti's love of history took her traveling around the world to all 7 Continents, Anartica being her favorite. Betti has been blessed with many wonderful, caring neighbors and friends that will miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter Maribeth McEwan of Homer,N.Y., Sons, Mark (Nancy) McEwan of S. Carolina, Jay (Patricia) McEwan of East Chatham, Chris (Donna) McEwan of Florida and Greg (Erica) McEwan of Chatham. She is also survived by her daughter-in -law Kathy (McEwan) Hawyer of Kinderhook , 14 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. McEwan was predeceased by her loving husband John A. McEwan 1982 and her first born Bennett W. McEwan l980. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 10:00am from the Immaculate Conception Church New Lebanon,N.Y.
