Elizabeth (Betty) G. Pietrak 93 a lifelong resident of Spencertown died Friday at her son's home in Canaan, N.Y. Mrs. Pietrak born March 22, 1922 in Spencertown is the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Douglas) Whiffen. She attended Spencertown Academy and graduated from Chatham High School. She was employed early on with the New York Telephone Co. in Albany for 10 years and then with her husband the late John E.Pietrak who died 1990, raised their family in Spencertown and has resided ever since. Mrs. Pietrak was a 77 year member of the St Peter's Presbyterian Church in Spencertown. She enjoyed her flower gardens especially her hollyhocks. Mrs.Pietrak is survived by a daughter Ellen E.Pietrak and her companion James Tomaso of Greenport, 2 sons Douglas J. Pietrak and wife Julie of Ghent, Mark E. Pietrak and companion Nancy Kie of Canaan,N.Y. Sister Grace Ann Silvernale and husband Harold of Spencertown, N.Y. Grandchildren Megan Kie,Maria Pietrak and Christina Galarneau, Erin Pietrak and Michael Pietrak, Erica Balaz. Great Grandchildren Ashlyn and Graysen Galarneau, Lucas Pietrak, Nicholas Balaz and Arabella Pietrak. Calling hour will be Thursday April 9 10-11am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 at the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Interment will be in the Spencertown Cemetery.
