Emma Badertscher Jensen, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, at the age of 92. At Berkshire Medical Center.  Born on December 10, 1931, to Elmer and Gertrude Hammon Badertscher, she was raised in Austerlitz, NY. She graduated from Chatham High School in 1950.

Emma began her professional journey as a telephone operator, a position she held in both Albany and Chatham, NY. In 1955 she embarked on a new chapter in her life when she married the love of her life, Warren Jensen.

She was the proud mother of five children and her family was always her greatest joy. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and many others whom she opened her doors to over the years. Emma's commitment to her community was reflected in her numerous contributions as an active member of the Austerlitz Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, St. Peter's Presbyterian Church, and a founding member of the Austerlitz Historical Society. Beyond her community service, she was an avid sports fan, passionately cheering on her beloved Boston Red Sox. One of her most cherished memories was witnessing their remarkable World Series victory in 2004, fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams. That evening was filled with joy as her phone rang nonstop with phone calls from family and friends. She loved nothing more than watching ball games on TV and took immense pride in following the athletic endeavors of her grandchildren during their school years. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren, her infant daughter, Wanda, and her son,Joseph Meaney. She is survived by her children, Wendy (Greg) Diskin and Scott (Victoria) Jensen of Austerlitz, NY, Patricia Hartl (Darrell Winner) of Delmar, NY, Betty Banker and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Meaney of Ghent, NY. She is also survived by her sisters Evelyn Keefner and Margie Quinn of Austerlitz, NY and Isabel Koch of Ruskin, FL. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Sean (Beth) Diskin, Jason Meaney and Daniel Banker, Jessica (Kevin) Fairbairn, and Brianna (Kevin) O'Rourke; and her great-grandchildren Emmett, Elaina, and Alexia Fairbairn and Collins and Teagan O'Rourke who brought her great happiness.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Dec.15,1:00 at St. Peter's Presbyterian Church in Spencertown, NY. Inurnment will be in the Austerlitz Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter's Presbyterian Church in her memory. Rest peacefully, "Gram".
