Obituary

Franklin Miles Heller

1938–2022

To my utter sorrow, my beloved partner and later husband of 45 years, Frank, died on May 30, Memorial Day, 2022. July 5th would have been his 84th birthday.  In all of these years, we were inseparable.

Early in his life, Frank was enterprising and independent. He had not yet finished college but took over a marketing research firm called Praeger. He then left after several years, since that did not satisfy him and went into real estate as a managing agent,  also not to his liking after a short time.

After these work experiences, Frank returned to school to complète his studies at Columbia University.  Thereafter, he became my indispensable partner during my entire photography career, until I retired in 2004.

Frank was honest, sometimes to a fault, and had an unwavering optimism and enthusiasm for life. He always thought we would have many more years to live together, even when he was seriously ill.

The first condolence lettter we received from a friend described Frank perfectly :  « He was an excellent hugger ; he made me feel special. A good listener and very supportive. »  Yes, this was my Frank !

Early on, after urging him, he also joined the board of the chamber music series I founded, « Tannery Pond  Concerts, » and served for several years as its treasurer.

The board of Tannery Pond Concerts join me in sadness :
