Franklin D. Perdue Sr. 76 of the Village of Chatham passed away Friday peacefully at his home with his family at his side following a lengthy and courageous battle with emphysema. Mr. Perdue born August 21,1935 in Gladehill, Va. Is the son of the late Wilson W. and Mary M. (Young) Perdue. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1956 and in 1971 they came to Chatham from Nassau, N.Y. He was a carpenter for Local #265 Carpenter and Joiners Union for many years retiring in 1991. Mr. Perdue is survived by his loving wife and caregiver for 57 years Marlene (Shappy) Perdue of Chatham, Sons, Frank Perdue Jr. of Chatham, David (Colleen) Kevin (Tracy) of Craryville, Gary of Chatham, Daughters Kathy (Gary) Sitzer of Chatham, Joanne Rowe of Orlando, Fl. Julie Perdue Sitzer of Valatie, Sister Velma Turner of Collinsville, Va. Survived also by 14 Grandchildren 4 Step Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Perdue was predeceased by his son Michael 2004, Brothers Raymond and Woodrow Perdue and sister Virginia Hodges. Calling hour will be Wednesday 10 - 11:00am from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am and interment will be in the Ghent Union Cemetery.
