George P. Mackey 83 of Rt. 66 Ghent died Sunday at Community Hospice at C.M.H. Mr. Mackey born February 22,1927 in Tower City, Pa. Is the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Weiner) Mackey. He graduated from High School and was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Navy as Radio Operator. In 1952 He came to Ghent and has owned and operated Grazing Meadow Farm until 2006 which is now owned by his son Thomas Mackey. Mr.Mackey served on the Ghent Recreational Committee , was an avid Bowler and N.Y. Jets fan. Besides his son Thomas and wife Elaine of Ghent, He is survived by Brothers Frank and Joseph Mackey of Chino Hills, Ca. He was predeceased by his wife Estelle, a brother Walter, Sister Julie Funeral Service will be held Thursday 1:00pm from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham, Interment will be in the Ghent Union Cemetery.
