James Micheal Visconti, known to friends as Mike, passed away at the age of 66 on Sunday April 12th at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Mike had been battling a long ten-year fight with cancer.

A Chatham High School graduate, Mike later attended Columbia-Greene Community College where he earned his associates degree. Mike went into the Army Air-Force where he served as a paratrooper and aircraft pneudraulics repairman. He was well known for his master carpentry skills and business Mike Visconti General Contracting. He also worked for A. Colarusso & Son Inc. as an equipment operator. Mike was a skilled man and had the ability to fix anything with his hands.

Mike was a lifelong car enthusiast and is well known for stock car racing at Devils Bowl Speedway and Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Most special to Mike, he spent his later years racing with his son Vinny. Mike shared many happy moments at the racetrack and working on cars in the shop. Mike enjoyed the excellent food and company at Dan's Diner and White Stone Café almost daily where he would talk about how the racing went that week.

Mike was a family man and a great father. He spent most of his time with his children and made sure they knew he loved them. It was common to hear Mike talk about how proud he was of his children. Mike loved dogs and was always surrounded by his Golden Retrievers at home.

Mike is Predeceased by Arthur and Corrine Visconti and leaves his loving wife of 25 years Julia Visconti, his brother Mitchel Visconti, sister Jessica Visconti, son Vincent (Vinny) Visconti, Daughters Willow, Phila, Evelynn (Evie) Visconti, and his nephews, Guy and Gino Visconti.
