Judith A.
Andrews
Dec 16, 1943 — Jun 20, 2021
Judith A. Andrews, 77, a lifelong resident of Ghent, NY, died suddenly on June 20,2021 with her children by her side.
She was born December 16,1943 in Chatham, N.Y, the daughter of the late Harold D. Leggett and Gladys E. Shufelt Leggett.
Judy started her education at the one room schoolhouse in Omi and graduated from Chatham High School in 1961. She continued her education and graduated from The Harper Method Beauty School in Rochester, NY. She opened her own beauty shop with Barbara Radley in Ghent, where the Xtra Mart now resides, until she moved the shop to her home. That is where she worked until her retirement in 2017. Her customers became her lifelong friends.
She was a very giving person and served as a Cub Scout leader when her son was a scout. She was also a lifelong member of the West Ghent Reformed Church.
On August 22,1964 she married the love of her life, Lawrence J. Andrews, Jr, who predeceased her in August of 2013. She was the loving mother of daughter Leah Jeanine Andrews Prack, son in law Jeffrey Douglas Prack, son James Dewitt Andrews and Amy Sitzer. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren; Kaitlyn Ann Prack (Cameron Groat), Karalyn Elizabeth Prack (Charles Goodermote), Addison Elizabeth Andrews and Jaxon Lawrence Andrews. She is also survived by her brother Richard Leggett, Sr, sister-in-law Martha Leggett, brother-in-law Donald Akin Sr., sister-in-law Joan Diskin and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother H. Dwayne Leggett.
Judy will be missed by her Wednesday card club and many dear friends. We take comfort in knowing that she is finally with Larry and her beloved Shitzu Lilly. Her love of shopping on QVC, especially for pocketbooks and shoes, has already been passed down to her girls. Cape Cod will continue to be her families "home away from home".
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Columbia -Greene Humane Society/SPCA, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534 or the Ghent Reformed Church, County Route 22, Ghent, NY 12075.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 23 rd , from 4 – 7 pm at the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham, NY. A service will be held Thursday, June 24 th at noon at the Ghent Reformed Church. For on-line condolences visit https:\\www.wenkfuneralhome.com
