Kenneth Goodermote

Kenneth Jack Goodermote, 88, passed away peacefully at Brookwood Assisted Living Facility in Hudson, Florida, on August 21, 2026.Born on June 8, 1938, in Mellenville, NY, Ken was the son of the late Earl and Cleo (Downing) Goodermote.Prior to moving to Florida in his later years, Ken resided in East Nassau, NY with his wife Erika, who married him in 1957 and predeceased him in March of 2007 after nearly 50 years of marriage. Erika, already a widow with a young son when she and Ken married, went on to have 2 daughters with him. Ken and Erika remained in East Nassau throughout their long marriage and would have celebrated their 50thwedding anniversary in November of 2007. Ken began working as a farmhand at a young age, and although he worked in the general construction industry for most of his adult life, his real passion was in farming, a passion he also shared with his grandson, Mark Crawley, who tragically predeceased him at age 18 in 1997. As the first grandchild, Mark and his “Papa” had enjoyed a special relationship, with farming, hunting, and fishing becoming their favorite activities and their most treasured times together. Another grandson, Adam Crawley, also predeceased him suddenly in 2011 at age 30. Although Adam had often accompanied “Papa” to the sheep farm where he learned to milk sheep and bale hay, by the time he was an adult with his own children he decided it was more enjoyable to eat farm products rather than tend to the animals. After becoming a widower, Ken often enjoyed dinner and drinks with Adam and his wife Tara, and spending time with their 3 young children.  Ken also loved singing, and fortunately he had a natural talent for it because he almost always sang in the car while driving. Classic country music was his favorite genre, and if he didn’t know some of the lyrics he just replaced them with his own. As recently as several weeks ago, he was still occasionally singing for the staff of both Brookwood ALF and Gulfside Hospice.Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Murawski (Alan) of Ballston Spa, and Robin Crawley of New Lebanon, his stepson, Fred Corie (Robin) of Valatie, grandchildren (Brittany Burton, Colin Burton, Tyler Burton, Lindsey Lear, Shaun Crawley, James Corie, and Rebecca Williams) and several great grandchildren.A graveside service will be handled by Wenk Funeral Home at Ghent Union Cemetery in Ghent, NY on September 10th at 1:30pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
