Leverett Stupplebeen Jr. almost 91 years on this earth passed away peacefully Tuesday at Barnwell Nursing Home. He will now join our Lord and his wife, Ellen Christine Law Stupplebeen whom he married August 18,1946. Mr. Stupplebeen born February 28,1922 in Chatham Center, N.Y. is the son of the late Leverett and Blanche (Sablia) Stupplebeen Sr. He is a veteran of the U. S. Army with the 150th Infantry Division attaining rank of PFC having served from 1942 - 1945. He then went on to work for W. Gordon Goold Inc. in Chatham Center and finishing his career with Keyser Well Drilling where he retired in 1977. Mr. Stupplebeen worked part time for security with Pine Haven Nursing Home. He served as Sunday School Superintendent as well as in charge of maintenance for the Chatham Center United Methodist Church for many years. Surviving him are his sons, Lawrence of Chatham, Robert and wife Peggy of Mansfield, Tx., Keith and Dennis (Jodi) Stupplebeen all of Chatham Center, Daughters Jeanne Stupplebeen of Hadley, N.Y. and Joyce (Thomas) Relyea of Scotia, N.Y. He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Besides his wife, He is predeceased by his brother Willard, Sister Hazel Webster and Daughter-in-law Linda Stupplebeen. The family wishes to thank everyone on the second floor of Barnwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and all the staff that supported them during his stay. Funeral Service will be held Saturday 9:30am from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Interment will be in the Chatham Center Cemetery.Calling hours are Friday evening 6- 8pm.
