Manuel J. Duarte, 82, of Ghent, NY died Wednesday, December 10, 2014. "Manny" was born in West Barnstable, MA on June 25, 1932 to Louisa and Joseph Duarte. He graduated from the University Of Massachusetts School Of Agriculture in 1956. He began dairy farming in Ghent with his wife, Jeanette, in 1960. In later years, he transitioned to raising crops and beef, and has remained active in farming with the assistance of his sons, grandson, and granddaughter-in-law. With their help, he was able to continue to enjoy his passion for farming to the present day. Always hard-working and family oriented, Manny was known for his integrity, fairness, and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, his sister, Mary O'Neil of Barnstable, MA., three sons; Manuel Jr., David, and Darin Duarte, and five daughters Marjorie Griffin, Elizabeth Kromer, Cynthia Brakman, Marian Dodds, and Katherine Hartmann. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 18, 5 to 7 pm , and Funeral Service on Friday 10 am, both taking place at Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham, NY.
