Margaret (Peg) H. Knight, loved wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, peacefully departed this world on May 25, 2024. Fondly known as everyone's favorite Raggedy Anne Doll maker, accomplished seamstress/quilter and amazing baker. She was born on April 9, 1935, at her home in Chatham Center, NY, to the late Frederick John Hornung and May Silvernail Hornung.

Margaret was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Edward Burr Knight Jr., who preceded her in death. Together, they raised a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories.

Margaret's legacy lives on through her devoted children: John F Knight (Linda) of Chatham, NY; Elizabeth (Betsy) G Knight (John Guetersloh) of Albuquerque, NM; and Edward (Elkie) L Knight of Chatham, NY. She was also a beloved Mema/Mimi/Mima to Andrew (Georgia) and Mary Kate Knight; John, Margaret Talesfore (Clayton), and Henry Guetersloh; Edward, Danielle and Patrick Knight. Her great-grandchild, Charlotte, was a source of immense joy and pride. In addition to her immediate family, Margaret is survived by her former daughter-in-law, Amy Sitzer, who remained a cherished part of the family. Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Hornung, and is survived by her sister Mary Bryce (D. Rex). She was also beloved by her nieces and nephews.

Margaret graduated as Salutatorian from Martin Glenn High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and attended Graduate School at University of Maine, Orono. Her passion for teaching Home Economics led her to impact countless lives at many local schools.

Margaret was a breast cancer survivor and an active member of her community. She dedicated her time and energy to numerous organizations, including: 4-H Leader, the Ghent Food Pantry, contributing as an election worker and served on the vestry and member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Margaret was also a passionate advocate for the March of Dimes, and a devoted supporter of the Chatham High School Booster Club.

Margaret took immense joy in enthusiastically supporting her children and grandchildren during their sporting competitions and theatrical performances. She played an active role as a supportive spouse to her husband, diligently serving as a Track and Field scorer and statistician. Additionally, Margaret cherished the opportunity to explore the world with her family, delighting in visits to cities both near and far.

Calling hours for Margaret's life will be held on June 14th from 4 - 6 PM at Wenk Funeral Home in Chatham, NY. Immediately following there will be a celebration of her life at 6 PM. Inurnment will follow in the Ghent Union Cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Morris Memorial and Columbia-Greene Humane Society in her honor.
