Margrit A. Fischer

Margrit A Fischer passed away peacefully at Columbia Memorial Hospital on September 29, 2026. Born September 24, 1927 in Wulsdorf Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hinrich and Ella (Rother) Renken. She came to the United States with her Family in 1929. She lived in New York City for many years before moving to Ghent with her parents. She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years Harold (Red) Fischer, her sister Ella Shanahan and her brother Helmuth Renken.She is survived by her children Kathleen (Thomas) MacDowell, Donald Fischer, her grandchildren Brian Fischer, Matthew Fischer, Kevin MacDowell and Jennifer MacDowell.She is also survived by her great grandchildren Adelyn Fischer and Noah Reed as well as many nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held October 2, 2026, at Wenk Funeral Home in Chatham, NY from 4pm - 6pm.Funeral service will be at St. James Catholic Church in Chatham on Saturday October 3 at 11:15 am.followed by interment in Mountain View Cemetery in New Concord NY.In lieu of flowers donations are request to the FASNY Firefighters Home, Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson NY 12534.Arrangements have been respectfully provided by the Wenk Funeral Home of Chatham, NY.
