Mark W. Borghi, 61, passed away on June 21, 2024, in Wasilla, AK. He lived in nearby Willow, Alaska since 2020.

He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Joan Freer Borghi and later adopted by Victor Borghi, Jr. He was raised in East Chatham, New York.

He is survived by his three children, Emily Borghi (Jay Campione) in Troy, NY, Levi Borghi (Meghan Nadeau) in Stephentown, NY, and Hannah (Peter) Hasenkopf in Kings Mountain, NC. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Olivia Hasenkopf age 9 and Dustin Borghi age 2.

He is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Denise Sabo, Jefferey (Ann) Robison, Carrie (Jude) Reardon, Tereasa (Steve) Hatch as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joan and Victor Borghi.

He previously lived in Great Barrington and was employed by Wel-Kamp Enterprises for more than 20 years as a construction site manager. In 2020, he made the cross-country trip with his sister Denise, they traveled 5,097 miles in 88 hours. He then settled in Willow, Alaska to be near his brother Jeff and to pursue his love for fishing, hunting and the general outdoor lifestyle. He was employed by Orion Construction and then later with UIC Commercial Services where he continued his craft in construction site management.

Beyond his construction job, he founded Lakota Bar B-Q in 2006, where he mastered the skill of slow smoked meats and savory sides, leaving smiles and full bellies on all.

His love for his family never over-shadowed his love for his favorite hobbies such as fishing, trapping, and hunting, in 2017 he harvested a bull moose with an antler width of 64 inches.

He proudly wore his fu manchu mustache while he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, better known to his family and friends as "Big Bird". Calling hour from 11 to 12 with a memorial service to follow Sunday July 14, from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Inurnment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery in New Concord.
