Marvin Charles Rowe (stubby) 76 of Boil Springs Lake, N.C. formally of the Chatham area died Monday at his residence. Mr.Rowe born August 5, 1937 in Hudson is the son of the late Clarence H. and Sarah H.Rowe. Educated in Chatham School he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed at Pier 9 in N.Y.C. He was employed with Crellin's Plastics, Patnaude Fuel and Paving, Drove truck for numerous local companies and last was employed with the Columbia County highway Dept retiring in 2001. He owned and trained race horses at the Chatham Fair Ground stables and competed at tracks locally and in Canada. His true passion was fishing, making numerous trips into the backwoods of Canada as well as fishing area lakes and those near his home in North Carolina. Marv was a member of the Sanford W.Smith Hook & Ladder Co. of the Chatham Fire Dept. serving as Lt. until moving out of the fire district. After his retirement he moved to Boiling Springs Lake, N.C. where he remained until his death. He was predeceased by his wife Carol Spickerman Blass Rowe. He is survived by a sister Joyce (Kenneth) TenBroeck of Niverville, N.Y. and a brother Gerald (Diane) Rowe of Ghent,N.Y. Nephews Dean Rowe, Brent Rowe of Ghent, Darren Rowe Rotterdam, N.Y.
