Oscar Patnaude Patnaude, Oscar CANAAN Oscar Vosburgh Patnaude, 83, of Canaan, N.Y., died November 17, 2012. Born on March 22, 1929 in Albany, N.Y., Oscar was the son of Ruth and Oscar Patnaude of Chatham. A graduate of Chatham High School, Oscar attended Hartwick College. After serving in the Army from 1951-1953, Oscar worked for Shell Oil and Streeters Store Fixtures, before starting his own business, Oscar's Fuel Service and Patnaude Asphalt. He finished his career as a salesman for Contractors Sales, in Albany. In retirement, Oscar designed and built sets for the Ghent Playhouse and volunteered at the New Lebanon Library and Hancock Shaker Village. He and his wife Susan traveled extensively. Oscar Patnaude was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Susan Miller Patnaude. He later found happiness again, with his loving companion, Marcia Abrams. Oscar is survived by: three children, Dianne Hobden (David) of Canaan, Suzanne Patnaude of Madison, N.J., David Patnaude (Jena) of Riverdale, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; sisters Pat Marshburn of Tampa, Florida and Jean Lynch of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and 25 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Wenk Funeral Home in Chatham, N.Y. on Thursday, December 27 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ghent Playhouse, 6 Town Hall Place, Ghent, N.Y. 12075.
