Paul M. Trantanella, beloved son, brother and life partner, died peacefully at home in Hudson, NY on Sunday, July 14, 2024, after a courageous, yearlong battle with cancer.

Born in Winchester, MA to Dorothy Jane Trantanella and Frank Michael Trantanella, Paul grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Lexington High School. He attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a double major in Psychology and Fine Art. Paul received a Master of Communication Design from the Pratt Institute of Art and Design.

Paul worked for 20 years in New York City as a Creative Director in the advertising industry. He was responsible for many memorable and successful ad campaigns. After the events of 9/11, Paul decided to leave the city and begin a new life chapter in Hudson, NY, where he had weekended with his life partner, Win Jackson, for years.

In Hudson, he became a successful Real Estate Broker, founding his own business, Historic Hudson Homes Real Estate in his building on Warren Street. Every aspect of the real estate business was of interest to Paul: the houses, the land, the views, the architecture, and the interior design. He helped countless clients buy and sell homes during his decades in real estate. Paul knew and loved so many people in Hudson and enjoyed being a part of that community. Two years ago, he welcomed his brother, Carl, as his partner at HHHRE.

For over 20 years, Paul summered at Fire Island Pines, where he and Win owned a beautiful, ocean view home. His time there changed his life.  He met his life partner there and established deep friendships with a large cherished, devoted and loving second family, whose social activities carried well beyond the summer months into New York City and Hudson and on many group trips abroad, ocean cruises and crossings.

Paul loved to travel.  His love for travel started in college when he went on Semester at Sea and traveled the world for four months on a ship. Paul delighted in time spent in a number of other destinations with family and friends to many locations across the globe, including several SCUBA diving adventures.

Paul was deeply loved by everyone who met him and more so by those blessed enough to be in his inner circle. Known as the guy who was always happy and up for a good time, Paul made friends quickly. Paul would do anything for anyone. He had a smile that never quit and an ever-present twinkle in his bright blue eyes. Paul loved his family and cherished his time with them.

Paul loved the theater and the arts. He regularly enjoyed the latest and best Broadway plays and musicals. He loved new and old movies alike and could recount them in vivid mesmerizing detail. He was an avid artist and cook, and

loved to entertain with Win.

Paul gave generously of his time and resources to helping anyone who needed assistance. Paul was a man committed to his family, faith, friends and community. He was an active member of Marble Collegiate Church in New York City and most recently attended The Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack, Claverack, NY.

Paul is survived by his life partner of 29 years, Wingate Jackson, Jr.; Father Frank brothers Mark Trantanella and Carl Trantanella; sister Pamela Stoddart (Timothy) nephews Alex Trantanella (Delia); Perry Stoddart and Miles Stoddart; niece Isabel Stoddart; in addition to countless extended cousins, aunts and uncles who loved him dearly. Paul was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Jane Trantanella.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Paul at Marble Collegiate Church, 1 West 29th Street, New York City on September 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow nearby.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Paul's honor to The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer's Association, both of which hold a special meaning for him.
