Roland C. Drowne 87 of Old Chatham, N.Y. died Tuesday at his residence. Mr. Drowne born July 6,1922 is the son of the late Charles and Ruby (Sanford) Drowne. He graduated from Chatham High School. Mr. Drowne was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 -1945 as an airplane mechanic in the South Pacific For several years he worked for C.J. Haslam Inc. before working for Taconic Telephone Corp until his retirement. Roland was active in civil affairs, He was a member of the American Legion, Berkshire Museum, Camera Club and the Alan Devoe Bird Club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Molly (Seaman) Drowne of Old Chatham, Children Jean and husband Russell Wheeler of West Lebanon, N.Y., Bruce and wife Irene Drowne of Dryden, N.Y. Lois and husband John Williams of Lowell, N.C. Wayne and wife Christy Drowne of Chatham,N.Y. One Sister Esther and husband Stanley of Schnectady, N.Y. 6 Grandchildren, Anita Wheeler and husband Scot Lueck, Benjamin and wife Sharon Wheeler, MSR SGT Adam Drowne and wife Lecia, Marianne Drowne , Jeremy and wife Bonnie Drowne and Kristy and husband Floran Marcard. 2 Great Grandchildren, Brandi Jo Drowne and Liam Asher Drowne.
