Shelton, Conn. - Sarah Burns, 76, passed quietly late Monday night December 3, 2012. Sarah was born in Montclair, New Jersey. Later, she moved with her family to Overbrook Farm in Rider's Mills, NY. She was a 1954 graduate of New Lebanon Central School. While raising her family she always found a way to give to the community, including several years as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and volunteering at Camp Shatamuk near Chatham, NY. Later in life she became the first woman in the Capital District to become a member of the Teamsters Local 294, delivering fuel oil to the North Country in a semi. She was dedicated to her extended family at the Faith Love Fellowship, of Rensselaer, NY. Sarah is predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Knowlton Babcock, and sister Alexis Edmister. She is survived by her husband Bob Burns; brothers Lewis Babcock and David Babcock; sister Marilew Lord; children John B. Warner III, Sarah E. Bourne, Matthew Lewis Warner, and David C. Warner; grandchildren Jessica B. Warner, John B Warner IV, Cara-Anne Warner, David Perkins Bourne, and Timothy Lewis Warner. Family and friends are invited to attend services from the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham, NY 12037 on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:30. Interment will follow at the Old Chatham Union Cemetery, Shaker Museum Rd. Old Chatham, NY.
