Stephen Robert Lappies of Canaan died July 13,2012 . Mr. Lappies born January 23,1962 is a graduate of New Lebanon High School class of 1980. He moved to Alaska in 1985 and worked in the commercial salmon and crabbing industry. He married Laura (Phillips) in 1993 in Valdez, Alaska, where he was a duty officer for Alyeska Pipeline Services until 2004, when he and Laura moved to New Lebanon, N.Y. to own and operate Churchhill House B&B. Stephen also worked for Donjon Marine Salvage in N.J. as a project manager. Stephen grew up on the water at Queechy Lake in Canaan where his family had a home. It is a place he loved and where he made many great friends. He is survived by his beloved mother Jane Lappies, wife Laura, siblings Jeff (Pam) Lappies and Sally (Rich) Lappies Kraham, step-daughters, Heather and Tila, four step-Grandchildren, a niece, three nephews and a great nephew.
