Vernon Wesley Decker of Chatham passed away Wednesday,December 13th at CMH. He was born May 6, 1927 in Chatham Center to Bernard and Ethel (Whiteman) Decker.  He attended Chatham Central Schools and served in the Marines in WWII.  He was employed by Oscars Fuel Service and Pulver Simmoms for many years,eventually owning his own business,Decker Oil Burner Service. After retiring he and his wife Lucienne ( Van Hoesen ) moved to Corpus Christie Texas, enjoying the warm winters. Survivors include his wife of 66 years,Lucienne, daughter JoEllen Cox 0f Chatham,a son Dale (Tara) Decker of Chatham Center.He was predeceased by a daughter, Coleen S Lennon,sisters Helen Decker,Madeline Allen and brothers Gordon and Bernard (Bud) Decker. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and caring man and will be missed. A private service will be held in the spring.
