Virginia "Ginny" Holt passed away on January 26, 2019 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont.
Born on September 26, 1935 she is the daughter of the late William and Dora (Clarkson) Miller. She was predeceased by her husband James Holt and infant daughter Virginia.
Ginny was a 1952 graduate of Chatham High School. She worked for many years at Chatham Specialties before moving to California where she resided for several years.
Upon returning to Chatham she provided in-home child care to many little ones as well as teaching at The Chatham Preschool.
Virginia was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher.
Her family was her greatest joy. She loved bringing people together for her delicious meals and baked desserts, which were always accompanied by chatter and a good glass of wine.
She also had a special place in heart for cats and would care for any stray that might wander to her home for comfort.
She is survived by: Her children, Daniel (Clara) Dutcher, Darrell (Patricia) Dutcher and Lenore (William) Packet.
Grandchildren, Whitney (Andrew) Serwetnyk, Nathaniel Dutcher, Darrell Mathew Dutcher, Nicholas (Ashley) Packet, Claire Packet, Candice Dutcher and Virginia Anne Dutcher.
Great Grandchildren, McKenzie Dutcher, Avery Dutcher, Jaxon Dutcher, Ethan, Addison and Nora Serwetnyk.
Extended family: Gayle Schrader, Meyer Meyerson, Kirsten (William) Loftus, Meyer (Kim) Meyerson, Cassandra Meyerson, Chelsey Carey, Justine Carey, Jordon Carey, and Tom Kenney.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held Thursday 4:00 – 6:00pm from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. Funeral will take place on Friday, February 1 at 10:00am from the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ancram Cemetery
