Obituary

William J. Satter 81 of Cty Rt. 9 Ghent died Wednesday at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Satter born September 29,1928 in Newark , N.J. is the son of the late Eugene and Marie (Schaible) Satter. He graduated from Central H.S. in Newark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 51 - 53. Having lived in the Newark area for many years, Mr. Satter was a Policeman for 25 years for the City of Newark retiring in 1980. He owned and operated a security business in Newark for 20 years and moved to Ghent, N.Y. in 2000 where he has resided since. He was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church of Stottville, N.Y. German Heritage Club, Deutscher Club of Clark,N.J. Faternal Order of Police of N.J. and Retired Firefighters and Police of Essex Cty, N.J.,American Legion Post # 252 of Philmont, N.Y. and the Philmont Rod and Gun Club.Mr. Satter was Predeceased by his wife Veronica (McCormack) Satter and grandson Mark VanTassel. He is survived by a son William J. Satter and wife Jean of Ghent, N.Y. Daughters Kathleen Tague and husband Brian of Jackson, N.J. Rev. Eileen Satter of Viena, Va. Grandchildren Heidi J. Satter and husband Jason Shanske, Brian Tague Jr., Kevin Tague and Christopher VanTassel and Great Grandchild Jonathon VanTassel. Calling hours will be Sunday 3-6pm from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham, Interment will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover, N.J.
