Winifred (Winnie) Doris Tuthill, 82 years of age, passed on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York.

Winnie was born May 14, 1941, in Chatham, New York to the late Walter and Doris (Lape) Kirby. She was the third of four children. She was adopted by Lewis and Josephine (Arrighi) Kirby at a young age. Winnie graduated from Chatham High School and lived her whole life in the Chatham area.

Winnie married her high school sweetheart, the late Robert Adams Tuthill in 1964 and had three sons. She was devoted to supporting her community. She is a long-time member of the Chatham Fire Department Auxiliary, the Chatham American Legion Auxiliary, and a Life Member of the Chatham Rescue Squad, Inc. where she served as a dispatcher prior to 911 service in the area.  She was a member of the New Concord Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School for several years and enjoyed making quilts for the church fund raisers. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Mountain View Cemetery in New Concord, New York.

Second only to her family, reading and sewing were her passions. She was known for her book collection, reading two or three books a week. Besides quilting and almost daily repairs to her boys' clothes in their younger years, Winnie enjoyed sewing just about anything. Her family, however, was her life's passion. She not only had a husband, three boys with wives or significant others, and five grandchildren, but an extended family that wasn't limited to blood or marriage. This extended family included all her friends and friends of friends. She loved you all!

Winnie is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Doris (Lape) Kirby, and Lewis and Josephine (Arrighi) Kirby; Her Husband, Robert Adams Tuthill; and her brother, Richard Kirby. She is survived by her two sisters, Mary (Chester) Blass and Leta (Mickey) Lee; three children, David K. Tuthill (Peggy), Gary L. Tuthill (Karin), and Christopher A Tuthill (Megan); and her 6 grandchildren (Matthew Tuthill, Jessica Tuthill, Tyler Tuthill, Alex Tuthill, Gabby Tuthill and Robert Tuthill.

Calling hours will be Wednesday September 27 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Funeral service Thursday September 28 at 11:00am at the Wenk Funeral Home in Chatham, N.Y. Interment will follow the funeral in the Mountain View Cemetery in New Concord.
